INTRODUCTION & BACKGROUND
The Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) was established in 1999 as a company limited by guarantee, positioning itself as the foremost business association in Northern Sri Lanka. As an active member of six national chambers and the international Chambers including the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL), The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI), National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), Confederation of Micro, Small, and Medium Industries (COSMI) and the National Chamber of Exporters, CCIY plays a pivotal role in fostering economic development, industrial growth, and trade expansion across the Northern Province. It serves as a unified voice for businesses, advocating for policy reforms, facilitating public-private partnerships, and driving sustainable economic progress.

Flagship Initiative: Jaffna International Trade Fair (JITF), In collaboration with Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services (Pvt) Ltd, CCIY organizes the Jaffna International Trade Fair (JITF), the largest and most influential industrial exhibition in Northern Sri Lanka. This annual event attracts key industry players, investors, and policymakers, catalyzing trade and investment opportunities.
The Jaffna International Book Festival (JIBF), organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY), is a premier literary event in Northern Sri Lanka, designed to promote reading culture, support local publishers, and connect authors with readers. Established as an annual event, JIBF has quickly grown into a cornerstone of the region’s intellectual and cultural calendar.

Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) is a guarantee limited non – profit organization based in Jaffna since 1999 July. and industrial service providing institution it has been incorporated as guarantee limited company. under the companies Act No. 7 of 2007.
On 09th of June 1999, The Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) was established to support the industrial and business communities in the Northern region of Sri Lanka. In 20th of July 1999, it was incorporated as The Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) becoming the only industrial chamber in the Northern region of Sri Lanka serving exclusively to the entrepreneurs. The membership of the chamber is open to all Sri Lankan entrepreneurs of products or services.
The membership ranges from different scales, micro, small, medium and large enterprises. The chamber services are primarily focused on its members and non-members to promote and sustain their industrial and business activities and be branded leaders.
